News - Celebrate Casey Kids 5 - 12

 Learning through Sharing Day - Friday 29th October 2010 - Children's Week 

Celebrate Casey Kids 5 -12 (CCK 5-12)

Berwick PS, Brentwood Park PS, Casey Grammar, Chalcot Lodge PS, Eumemmerring PS, Fountain Gate PS, St. Kevins PS

Several primary schools from within the City of Casey came together this October to share learnings through the mediums of performance, presentations, songs, displays, demonstrations, film and exhibits on a range of great projects, initiatives and experiences. Across the fields of visual and performing arts, to environment, technology, cultural studies, cooking and nutrition - it was wonderful and inspiring to see children from Grades Prep to 6 coming together during Children's Week 2010 at the City of Casey to showcase their achievements. As presenters, artists, singers, dancers, cooks, activists, thinkers and learners, children make a significant contribution in enriching and participating in our community. Congratualtions to those schools involved this year, and the efforts of staff and teachers working collaboratively to make it happen, with the biggest acknowledgement going out to the students involved, as the day was ultimately about them - belonging, being and becoming.

Thank you to Captain Eric Weickmann from CHIPS for his energetic MC ing, and the beautiful photographs taken on the day. (included below). Eric also provided a thought provoking presentation on 'Connected Community - Anecdotes of Kids Helping Kids throughout the World.' Another big thank you goes out to Nida Iqbal from Southern Health who shared a story thjat related to the children's week theme of 'A Caring World Shares' . Nida's story reflected her journey to Australia from Afghanistan, and children were only too keen to take up the opportunity to ask Nida questions about her experience. Celebrate Casey Kids 5 -12 ~ Children's Week Event 2010 

'A Caring World Shares'

 

Learning through Sharing Week

Children's Week runs from Sunday 23rd October - Sunday 31st October 2010, heralding the theme of 'A Caring World Shares'.

The CCK 5 -12 network group is working towards Children's Week initiatives which celebrate and recognise the vibrancy and importance of primary school aged children in our community.

Primary schools within the City of Casey have been invited to participate in this event through showcasing any project or aspect of the school curriculum which has an emphasis on children's learning experiences across the broad fields of diversity, arts, culture, personal development, techonology and the environment.

Students' involved in the CCk 5 -12 'Learning through Sharing' displays' will meet for a culmination of the week at an event held at Council Chambers on Friday 29th October. Children are invited to perform or present on their learning experience through sharing with those children and staff present from other schools.

Visit your local library during Children's Week to view visual displays of student achievements in the primary years and be in awe of the amazing contributions made to our community by children. The library setting provides an ideal opportunity for showcasing the achievements' of children during Children's Week. Enjoy visual displays in appreciation of the amazing contribution that children make to our community as learners, thinkers, activists and artists.
