Empowering People, Strengthening Communities - Communities in Partnership
‘Empowering People, Strengthening Community Project’
Within the scope of the project ‘Communities in Partnership’ shall:
- Support people with disabilities to become empowered to make independent and informed choices
- Encourage and support the individual to become a more active participant within wider society
- Develop extensive opportunities within the mainstream community for individuals with disabilities to become included
- Strengthen and expand support networks to assist people with disabilities to achieve their aspirations, goals and develop broad social and friendship groups
These objectives shall be achieved through;
- Develop Reference group consisting of people with disabilities, for the purpose of identifying pathways to achieving goals and aspirations
- Utilise an Asset Based Community Register, identifying the social and physical assets present in the community. e.g. schools, libraries, social and health services, sporting associations, Neighbourhood Houses, individual skills and knowledge
- Supporting individuals with a disability, and families/carers, in financial decisions and advice, assisting in the budgeting and monetary aspect of the implementation of ISP via a financial advisory group.
- Individualised pathways linking people with disabilities into the community as volunteers
