Jonathan began his musical training in Zimbabwe, where he grew up, receiving numerous prizes and awards, most notably runner up to the national piano concerto competition in his final year there.
He continued his lessons when, as a teenager, his family moved to New Zealand, where he led the winning group of the Westpac National Chamber Music Competition in his last year of high school.
Besides his piano playing, he has also taken up conducting, both choral and orchestral, being awarded a conducting internship for Auckland's professional orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia, and becoming assistant conductor of the Auckland Symphony as well as working towards his Bachelor of Music.
Jonathan teaches the piano to students of varying abilities and ages,plays the organ and directs his church choir.
He lives with his wife Jennifer, and his young children, David and Clare and Rachael.
