These workshops are recommended for anyone wishing to do portraiture, as it gives a solid foundation to work with.
·          Improve your drawing and observation skills essential for portraiture.

·          Study the structure of the human head, proportions, expressions, tonal values and drawing techniques.

·          Work in a variety of drawing mediums.

Knowledge gained in these workshops can be applied to painting portraits in other mediums.

Materials provided on the day.

Gourmet morning and afternoon tea will be provided.   Please bring your own lunch.

Elly Abrat

Elly Abrat works as a professional artist and is an experienced tutor who has been conducting art classes from her home based studio for the past 18 years.   Prior to this she taught drawing and painting at the McClelland Guild of Artists studio in Langwarrin, as well as other venues.

She works in a variety of mediums including pastel, watercolour, oils, acrylics, colour pencil, graphite charcoal and silverpoint.

Her portraits have won numerous awards, the most recent at the pastel Society of Victoria's 2008 Annual Exhibition for BEST PORTRAIT, the McClelland Guild of Artists 2007 Bi-Annual Exhibition BEST IN SHOW, 2005 BEST PORTRAIT sponsored by Dame Elizabeth Murdoch, 2005 Pastel Society of Victoria Annual Exhibition, PSV AWARD.

The workshop will be conducted from Elly's studio located in Narre Warren South.   The studio is a large barn-style building, set in a beautiful garden.

With a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, the studio is well equipped with good lighting, easels and heating/air conditioning.

There is ample off street parking available

A non-refundable deposit of $15.00 per workshop is due (2) two weeks prior to the date of the workshop.   Balance of $60.00 due on day of workshop.   Places are strictly limited.

A variety of different workshops conducted to date:
 
  • 2009 Portraiture Drawing workshops.  Workshops teaching participants how to draw the human head starting with the skull, muscles, facial features and drawing techniques.                         
  •  2007 Workshops at Child Care Centres in Cranbourne held with pre-school aged children.  Children all painted or made a mark on a number of canvases.  These were then displayed at their Centre.

 

  • 1999 Dandenong Ranges Community Cultural Centre, Children's Literacy Program. Primary School aged children were involved in writing, acting and illustrating stories created on the day.  My workshop was with children who illustrated the stories that had been written, other children were involved in the drama workshop and another group were involved in the creative writing workshop.

 

  • 1998 dis ABLITY Workshop conducted at McClelland Guild of Artists studio, Langwarrin Victoria.  A group of mature aged pesons painted a number of canvases which were later exhibited at the Frankston Cultural Centre.

 

  • 1997 City of Casey Refugee Week workshop with children.  Many young children were involved in art activities.

 

  • 1992 Botanical Art Workshop at Wilson Park Berwick funded by Arts Victoria, City of Casey and Berwick Artists' Society.  This was a workshop showing participants how to draw and paint flowers in greater detail.
