What is Food Security?

Food Security is regarded as the state in which all persons obtain nutritionally adequate, culturally acceptable, safe food regularly through non-emergency resources.

Food Security broadens the traditional concept of poverty, embracing a systemic view of the causes of hunger and poor nutrition within a community while identifying the changes necessary to prevent their occurrence.

An estimated 60,000 people in Australia are estimated to be food insecure.
