HOMEWORK @ HALLAM is an after-school homework support program, that is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm to 6pm.
It is run at Hallam Community Learning Centre, for secondary school students from refugee and other non-English speaking backgrounds; however we also encourage students from socio-economic disadvantage to attend our program.
The program is free to students, and we provide nutritious food and drinks, and use of computers and internet.
Our students attend many different schools in Casey and other areas, although most live in the City of Casey.
OUR AIM - to improve the academic outcomes of our students, and encourage and assist them to complete their secondary education.
Our major focus - addressing the educational disadvantage of local secondary students due to lack of English literacy and/or limited English literacy and/or educational background of their parents. (related to their refugee or multicultural backgrounds)
Our program is staffed by volunteers, including the coordinator. We are always appreciative of new volunteers and donations of food, computers and money to help keep our successful program viable.
