Our House aims to support and serve the local community by providing adult education, recreational courses and activities for Adults and Children as well as community information. The House is governed by a volunteer Committee of Management and staffed by part time paid workers and volunteers.

Through the many years of operation the House has been able to provide pathways for individuals and families - allowing them to develop along with the Community they live in. All programs and activities are kept as affordable as possible and we can provide options for participants who cannot afford an activity.

We encourage everyone to drop in, meet the staff and keep us informed about the activities they would like to see at the House.

PROGRAMMED CLASSES FOR TERM 1, 2012

At present our program for Term 1 in 2012 is full of interesting and educational classes, such as Intermediate Computer, Yoga, Digital Photography, making Incredible Cakes and Art for Kids.  We are also running a couple of new programs.  Tears and Tantrums and Finding Me are educational sessions. One looks at practical solutions to taming those toddlers.  The other 'Finding Me' looks at discovering who you are and what are your needs in amongst the many roles we take on, such spouse, mother, sibling, bread winner, bill payer, taxi, child carer etc.

We are very excited to have Leigh Rust (award winning artist; Google him on the Internet) continuing to run an Open Art class this Term.  Hopefully lots of community members will benefit from his skills and knowledge and really enjoy this experience.

Our Photography tutor, Michael Astley has had good reviews from participants during 2011 and we look forward to some great results.  One of Michael's students won the Photography section in 2011's Hampton Park Community House Art & Photography Show.  Well done Jessica!

As always, we are running English classes.  There are some vacancies in the Certificate classes so contact us if you wish to join.  A non-accredited English class is available (this does not comply with Centrelink or AMES requirements), so if you want to learn English or fine tune your skills, this is the course for you.

Please have a look at our full program on this website, contact Reception for details on the number below, or pop in for a hard copy program.

OCCASIONAL CARE

As always we are running our Occasional Care program on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Take a break for yourself and let your little ones explore and learn new experiences through play and making new friends.  Don't forget that if you're attending a program run by the House, occasional care will only cost $5 per child during the time the session is running.  Enrolment is required prior to children attending this service, so please contact Reception for details.

PLAYGROUP

Every Tuesday (except the first day of Term) our Supported Playgroups are run.

9:30 to 11:30 or 12:30 to 2:30 groups are available, so come along to which ever one fits in with your little person's nap.  Parents have the chance to socialise and kids get to have fun with other children or mum/dad.  Registration is made on arrival at playgroup and at $4 per family, it is one of the cheapest playgroups around.

OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS CARE PROGRAM

Before and after school care can be arranged for children attending local schools.  Children can be dropped off as early as 6:30am and our staff will take them to school either by walking or in our Community Buses.  We pick children up from school via the same methods, and will care for them until 6:30pm.  A delicious afternoon tea is provided, and let me assure you it is always something yummy!  Please contact Reception to organise this service.  NB: this service is claimable through Centrelink, so your CCB (Childcare Benefit) applies.
