Narre Warren & District Family History Group Inc.

Family History is a growing hobby - one of the fastest growing leisure activities in the world today.

The Narre Warren & District Family History Group Inc., began in May 1989 with a small but dedicated group of people who were tracing their own family history and wished to share information and help others with the same interest.
The group first met in one another's homes, our small library was held in the home of our first President, Lorraine Taylor. Open Days were also held at Lorraine's for members to research and use the microfiche readers and the few microfiche.
Later, the group met at the Presbyterian Church on the corner of Prospect Hill and Narre Warren North Road, Narre Warren. For each meeting the boxes of library books, microfiche and readers had to be packed, transported and set up and this process was reversed at the end of the monthly meetings. We finally acquired a permanent home when the present Narre Warren Library opened in November 1992.

We are a volunteer, non profit group and operate a family history research room within the Narre Warren Library.

Full details of our research room opening hours, meetings and events are on our website at www.nwfhg.org.au
