Project Overview - Promoting Peace In Families Project

Promoting Peace In Families is a 3 year project jointly funded by the National Community Crime Prevention Programme (Attorney General's Department), an Australian Government Initiative. It is a joint project between the City of Casey, Cardinia Casey Community Health Services and the Casey Pastors Network.
The project aims to educate and strengthen the capacity of diverse communities within the City Of Casey to identify, prevent and respond to family violence. Family violence has been identified as a significant issue within the municipality of Casey.
The Project comprises of 3 key stages:
- The Esta blishment Phase
- Consolidation Phase
- Evaluation Phase
In the Establishment Phase the project staff will work with 4 churches which were identified to pilot the project. It is envisaged that policies, strategies and actions would be put in place and best practices used as a model to reach other church communities with the aim of preventing family violence.
The first phase of the project has involved working with 4 church communities -Turning Point Family Church Cranbourne, Salvation Army Church Cranbourne, Winepress Assembly of God Berwick and Berwick Church of Christ.
The Consolidation Phase of the project will extend pilot activities to additional churches and other diverse communities ( ie: other faiths, schools etc.), with findings informing a broader approach.
8 churches have been selected for this phase - Berwick Anglican Church, Berwick Baptist Church, Doveton Baptist Church, Holy Family Catholic Church Doveton, Langwarrin-Pearcedale Anglican Church, Hampton Park Baptist Church, Casey Life Assembly of God Hampton Park and Berwick Vineyard Church.
