What is the Wall of Global Friendships?
The Wall of Global Friendships is an interesting and unique outdoor community space which celebrates and acknowledges Casey’s diverse cultural community and global friendships.
Located at the Balla Balla Centre in Cranbourne East, the wall features a collection of large, cast bronze plaques, inscribed with a message of friendship and goodwill from some of the different ethnic groups that have come to settle in Casey, and from Casey’s sister cities.
This inspirational area is provided for the community to explore, interact and celebrate Casey’s cultural diversity. The landscape incorporates curved walls, gardens, paths, seating and flagpoles and captures the unique cultural essence of the vibrant and diverse Casey community.
Why was the wall created?
The concept of a Wall of Global Friendships came from within the local community as a unique way to recognise Casey’s cultural diversity and sister city links.
Casey is home to a diverse multicultural community with people from more than 100 different language backgrounds. The Wall of Global Friendships aims to provide a sense of connection and belonging to the City of Casey.
The Wall of Global Friendships aims to:
- Celebrate and acknowledge Casey’s cultural diversity and sister city relationships.
- Recognise the contribution of the various multicultural groups that have settled in Casey.
- Promote friendship and goodwill between Casey’s diverse cultural groups.
- Provide a meeting place for multicultural ceremonies, special occasions and national events.
- Provide a unique and interesting outdoor community space.
