About - Whippet Racing Club of Victoria Inc

The Whippet Racing Club of Victoria conducts race meetings on a regular basis during the year between the months of February and November.

Race meetings are held on an alternating basis at the Greyhound Trial Track in Harewood Mains Road Tooradin and the Lara Greyhound Education Complex in Gillets Road Lara.

In order to enter into one of the regular club graded races  Whippets must be at least 12months old and not weigh more than 15kilograms. They must also belong to financial club members. They must also be box trained and complete a satisfactory Qualifying Trial before they can be placed into the regular race draw.

Visitors are most welcome at any of our race meetings and they are encouraged to bring any Whippets along also.  Any Whippet over the age of 12months can compete in one or two trials at any race meeting for the small fee of $5.00 (We do not charge for the first visit).

We are a purley amateur sport and run for trophies at the end of each racing season. One of our main features is the Junior Trainers competition which is conducted during the racing season. A Junior Trainer must have reached 10 years of age and be under 18 years of age. They must also be responsible for the feeding and training of any whippet/s registered in their name and must be capable of handling the Whippet/s registered in their name on the race track.

Membership to the Club costs $50 per single member and $75 for a joint or family membership.
