The Club commenced with a group of 6 people in June 1986 meeting at various venues before establishing a permanent home at the Old Cheese Factory, 34 Homestead Road, Berwick. Currently the club around 100 members, the majority of whom are involved in one or more of the clubs activities.
The club has a number of well defined aims and objectives. These include:
- To bring together people interested in all facets of the craft of woodwork
- To promote an appreciation and understanding of working with wood
- To provide awareness which will encourage members to improve both their theoretical and practical skills
- To support local charities through the production and distribution of children’s toys and the participation in other local events
The Club is incorporated under the Associations Incorporations Act. It operates with an elected Committee of 10 consisting of four officers (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) and six ordinary members. In addition there are a number of Coordinators who are responsible for Safety, Workshop, Newsletter Editor, Historian and Toy Making. Coordinators may or may not be committee members.

- Wednesdays -9:30 am-3:30 pm- General Woodworking/Woodturning
- Thursdays – 9.30 am – 12.30 pm Fine woodworking
- Friday and Saturday mornings 9.30am – 12.00 pm general member projects
- Wednesday Evenings 5:30 pm -9:30 pm Projects such as making Rocking Horses.
- 1st Thursday each Month (Feb -Nov) & 7:30 pm -9:30 pm - Monthly meetings/Club Night (Demonstrations in various facets of woodcraft)
- Annual General Meeting - held in June.
- Club demonstrates at local Agricultural Shows and Festivals and participates in various Community activities.
- Club makes and donates 500-700 toys each year to disadvantaged children within the district
- The club is in the process of setting up a Blacksmithing group.

Submitted applications for membership which must include the entrance fee plus the annual subscription will be considered by the committee at the next committee meeting following the receipt of a completed application form by the Secretary.
It is strongly recommended that prospective members visit the club before submitting an application form.

Family membership is a maximum of two adults and two children under 18
